Well, I was a teenager in the 80s. Trust me, it wasn’t pretty. I remember:
1) My turquoise M.C. Hammer pants. No, you can’t touch this nor would you want to.
2) Fingerless lace gloves
3) Acid-wash jeans
4) Sony Walkman
5) Scary shoulder pads that in theory, should’ve made my hips look much smaller.
Teresa,
Who could forget the Sony Walkmans? And yes, I remember the scary shoulder pads….. Ha! I also remember the scary BIG hair of the 80s. Thanks for “playing!”
1. David Cassidy (just had to list him!)
2. Peace Sign
3. Mood Rings
4. Pet Rocks
5. Black Light Posters
Yep, Paula… we can’t forget David Cassidy. You had posters of him plastered all over your room! LOL Forgot about pet rocks! The peace signs were everywhere in the 70s. I remember Bill Malone having a black light and I loved black light posters!
1. 40 inch bell jeans in 8th grade
2. people running down the hall with “clackers” then they were outlawed by teachers
3. Shag haircuts
4. peasant blouses
5 . P.O. W. Bracelets
I remember the clackers. My sister had some and I had constant bruises on my lower arms from them! Weren’t they eventually banned due to the danger of the glass particles breaking off? Never had a shag haircut but remember them well. I did wear the peasant blouses! I remember the P.O.W. bracelets well. My oldest sister had one. Thanks Melissa!
Since our daughter was born in 1971, the thing I remember as being populor was “Hot Pants.” Had nothing to do with her birth except my hospital roommate wanted to get home with her baby and ger herself some “hot pants.” I suspect that had a lot to do with her giving birth! LOL
That’s pretty good Jane. When I was in the hospital after having given birth, I can definitely tell you that hot pants was the LAST thing on my mind! But I definitely remember that fad!
Since I was a teenager in the late 50s and early 60s, I don’t think anyone living will remeber what I remember from that period. 🙂 I will just say sock hops, Beatnicks, Troy Donahue and Sandra Dee, hotrods, etc. I actually live “Grease”.
Definitely a good time to be a teenager Jane!
