Today’s daily prompt: If you could permanently ban a word from general usage, which one would it be? Why?
I can think of more than a few words I would like to see banned from general usage. But lately, when reading internet articles, a popular term now that gets under my skin is “baby bump.”
You’ll see articles about pregnant women (celebrities usually) either “hiding” or “flaunting” their “baby bump.” I don’t know why, but this gets under my skin. I don’t like a pregnancy and a growing human fetus referred to as “a bump.” It’s a baby. A growing baby! I don’t know where this term came from but I wish it would go away!
