I came across something very special tonight while going through a drawer. My parents gave me this transistor radio in 1967 for my 8th birthday and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. I remember thinking it was the coolest thing ever! I would slide the radio in the leather case, pop the ear adaptor in and I was ready to go. I can still remember the unique smell of the leather case. As well as I remember, it had a lot of static but that didn’t deter me from carrying it around and listening to it. It worked on a 9-volt battery. I’m thinking it still works, but I couldn’t find a 9-volt battery tonight to try it out! I found two identical radios just like it on eBay (just the radio without the case or ear phones) and they weren’t going for much. The starting bid on one was $4.99 and the other was $9.99. Call me crazy, but I don’t think I would take $1,000 for mine. Ahhhhhh…… wonderful memories.

OMG! Kids nowadays don’t know what they’re missin’, right?!! What joy it was to find a station that came in clearly, lol.
Yes, you’re absolutely right! The challenge of finding a “clear” station was pure joy!!! Ha!
