Have You Cleaned Out Your Refrigerator Today?

I guess I’ve heard it all.  I was laying in bed early this morning and I heard on the radio that November 15th is National Clean Out Your Refrigerator Day.  Have you ever heard of such?  I haven’t.

I laughed.  I usually clean my refrigerator out the week before Thanksgiving anyway.  A couple of months ago, I gave mine a thorough emptying and wipe down with  disinfectant, took out drawers and shelves and washed them in the sink.  I threw a lot of food out.  And yes, some of that food that had been pushed to the back was unidentifiable.

So today I just tidied mine up a little and threw a few things out.  I probably do need to pull it out to see how scary it is behind and under it and vacuum the coils but I’ll have to wait for a day when hubby is available to help with that.  They have a national day for everything don’t they?

It’s getting ridiculous with the national day of… Some of it is just crazy such as the refrigerator. I have to laugh though because it makes me wonder who sits and thinks up this crazy stuff? LOL

  2. Hahaha! I guess they do have a “day” for everything. I actually hate my refrigerator. It’s way too small. So we have to keep it lean & clean to fit everything in. It was the biggest one we could find, 3 years ago. Wish we’d have gotten the one that is only a ‘fridge since we already have an upright freezer.

I hate my refrigerator too. We are limited in space as to where we can put it (between the end of the counter and the dining room wall. The one we have now is smaller than our last one (I loved it). All the ones we liked would not fit and were just too big for the space allotted. We were told refrigerators today only last an average of six years. We bought this one in 2005 and it’s still going strong 13 years later! I told my husband it will last forever since I hate it!!!! LOL! I do NOT want another side by side.

      • Planned obsolescence? Our old one was much bigger and lasted over 24 years. Was still running great when we sold the house. Although the ice dispenser crapped out pretty early.

They sure don’t make them like they used to! My mother-in-law has a G.E. refrigerator/freezer that is older than my husband and is STILL running. I think she got it in 1953 or 1956!!!! Unbelievable!!!!

      • Wow! That’s unreal! But, they did build things to actually last back then. Wish they did now. *sigh*
