R.I.P. Father Whalen

My beloved former priest, Father Peter Whalen, died this morning at 2:30 am at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, from COVID-19 pneumonia.  I’ve had two family members with COVID, and a few friends who have contracted it, but this is the first death from this wicked virus of someone who was near and dear to my heart.

Father Whalen buried both my parents and he baptized both my sons.  He helped me through a very hard time in my life as I know he helped countless others.  To say that I am beyond sad is an understatement.

As my sister said, “A sad day for earth, heaven is rejoicing.”

Please join me in praying for Barbara, his wife, and Christi and Christopher, his children.

Please, please, please, stay safe and wear a mask.

I will never forget what a fine priest and man he was. He was so good to our Daddy. He faithfully visited him every Friday while he was suffering from cancer and a stroke. May he RIP and rise in glory.
